Hey there folks, I hope everyone had a nice holiday season! If you got out for some pre-warm up turns, well I bet they were pretty darn good. Conditions were pretty killer for a while there, and we were 100% open for the first half of break week. Obviously, things have changed a bit since then, and we’ll get into that…
But first, I’d like to thank our staff for what was a very successful, albeit hectic re-opening week. Conditions were killer and the crowds made their way out to take advantage of the early season goods. We have a number of new systems in place this season, including a new e-commerce partner, ticketing POS, season pass system, and restaurant POS. Naturally, we dealt with a number of hiccups with those systems during opening and our crew handled it like champs. Getting all the lifts open is always a challenge as well, building ramps, shoveling, hanging signs and going through the pre-season checklist. A big thank you to our Mountain Ops team for making that happen without any delays. The entire staff put forward an incredible effort to get us through a wild opening, so a huge thanks to every one of them.
Now, for the current situation on the hill. It’s no secret that snow has been melting and this weather looks more like April than January. But, it looks like there is some cold, snowy light at the end of the tunnel and we should be past this warm up after tomorrow. We’ll continue snowmaking at every opportunity to keep building our base, with the next focus to be on Silversmith. Obviously we’ll need some good natural snowfall to re-open areas like Snow Pocket and Little Mountain, but we know that will come. In the meantime, we’ll be riding South Slope and Bunny Bowl with a pop-up park at the bottom of South.
This week’s hours will be Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday 9am-3pm with a snowmobile hill climb at 4pm, and Sunday 9am-4pm. We plan to begin night skiing and regular hours next week after some more seasonable temps return. Season Passholder early lift access will begin on weekends later this month, once we get a little more terrain opened back up!
Aside from that, look out for GoonJam going down on Saturday, January 14th at the bottom of South. This is a snowboard rail jam being held by professional snowboarder, Lucas Magoon! Be sure to check out their website for all the information!
As the weather changes back to normal, we’ll be sure to keep everyone updated with operation changes and terrain openings. Think snow and we look forward to seeing you on the hill!
