The 2018-2019 season is getting off to an early start! Thanks to some great early season snowfall and incoming low temperatures, Opening Day will be next Friday the 30th! We’ve already received 3 feet of snow this month and the snowpack is looking sweet. We were actually hoping to get the lifts spinning this weekend, but without a firm base layer, the unfrozen ground has made it impossible to prep the slopes. We’re also looking at a little warm up this weekend that we fear would bring more harm than good if we opened up the slopes as is.
However, starting tonight we will have the snow guns blasting in order to help build up that base and have South Slope ready for next weekend. We also hope the cold temperatures will freeze up the ground underneath all this snow, in order to start packing down a base on all of our other main trails. We’ll keep pushing through the holiday weekend and next week in hopes of having a number of trails ready for one of our earliest openings in recent years! In the meantime, get your boards ready and get stoked for a snowy start to another great season at the Ridge!
