Hello once again friends and Snow Ridge faithful! Well, it’s been an interesting start to the season to say the least. We opened up on December 8th with some pretty great conditions, despite having lost a lot of snow from the deep November snowpack due to rain and warm temps. Similarly, the rain earlier this week was pretty devastating to our slopes, limiting our open terrain to South Slope and Bunny Bowl. The trail to the top of South remains thin until we get some more of the sweet stuff flying through the air. But, despite Mother Nature throwing a monkey wrench in our early season plans, South offers some good turns and we are indeed open for the season!
Snowmaking will continue as temperatures allow. We will finish the skiers right hand side of South and fill in some holes before moving all the gear over to Silversmith, where we’ve already gotten a jump start with some early snowmaking at the top and bottom of the trail. We plan to hit a few typical trouble spots on North slope while the equipment is over there, and then focus the last of our snowmaking efforts on the Terrain Park.
Speaking of the Park, we will be opening the Progression Park on the bottom of South Slope this week! As far as we know, this will be one of, if not the only, park open in CNY at this point in the season. The setup will be great for getting your feet back under you in the early season as well as a great learning area for anyone hoping to take their talents to the park this season.
Finally, we have a few events coming up that we’d like everyone to know about. Tomorrow is our Christmas Eve Free Ski Day. We continue our tradition of stocking the shelves of the local food pantry, with free lift tickets for anyone who brings at least 5 canned goods or non-perishable food items. This has quickly become one of our favorite events here at the Ridge and we encourage everyone to help us make this year’s the biggest yet! Get more info here!
We also have our annual New Year’s Eve Dinner happening again in Tavern230. This year brings a delicious new surf ‘n turf buffet menu, live acoustic music, and the return of our moonlit horse drawn sleigh rides. This evening is by reservation only and seating is limited, so be sure to act fast! Make your reservations here!
Moving into January, the Tavern will also begin its dinner menus, happy hour specials, and fun weekly events like our all new Thursday night trivia series! Our live music and beer tasting series will also kick off on January 12th, keep your eyes peeled for more details on that!
From our family here at Snow Ridge, we wish you and yours a very happy and safe Holiday Season. See you on the slopes, and be sure to think snow!
