Tavern230 Early Season Ullr Party

December 22, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Come celebrate the beginning of another great season with us at Snow Ridge! We’re particularly excited for this new event, derived from the long running tradition in Breckenridge, Colorado, Ullr Fest.

Ullr, of Norse mythology, is known across Europe as the God of Snow and the Patron Saint of Skiers. An expert hunter, skater, and skier, Ullr would glide around the world covering everything in snow. To this day, many European skiers and snowboarders wear a talisman depicting the Norse God during their winter excursions into the mountains.

We now bring this tradition to Snow Ridge, calling upon our snow loving brothers and sisters to gather together the first weekend of winter, to make offerings and send our wintery wishes to Ullr! We’ll sacrifice old skis in the bonfire (don’t worry, fake all wood skis to stay environmentally friendly), do some snow dances, enjoy live music, drink, and food specials – but most importantly celebrate our shared love for that sweet Lake Ontario powder snow!

Prizes will go out to the best Nordic costumes and best sacrificial skis and snowboards! So grab your horned helmet and fur vest, whip up some unique (burnable) skis or boards, and join us for this snowy celebration! Bring the whole family, and all snow lovers are welcomed!
